Full Day Cousin, Curieuse & St Pierre

Strictly for the birds

This tour starts with a transfer to Baie Ste Anne jetty for the one mile crossing to the Special Nature Reserve of Cousin island. Your cruiser moors off-shore and you are taken to the island on a Reserve boat so come prepared to wrap your belongings in water-proof bags for the exciting trip to shore. Once on dry land a warden leads the tour of the island.

Here you see protective mangroves, wetlands which attract dragonflies, moorhens, caecilans and Seychelles terrapins and in the rejuvenated forest on the hill plateau you discover the nesting sites for large populations of shearwaters and bridled terns among the endemic trees - mapou, Indian mulberry and bwa sousouri. Birds found on Cousin Island include Magpies Robins, Sunbirds, Fody, Blue Pigeons and Warblers.

Island Duo Praslin & La Digue

Double delights

Praslin, the second largest island in the Seychelles, is around one hour by boat from Mahe. Once there you visit the Vallee-de-Mai, the only place on earth where the giant Coco-de-Mer nut grows in its natural state. A walk along the tended paths of this primeval forest, listening to the trill of the rare Black Parrot, gives credence to the legends of this World Heritage Site being the original Garden of Eden.

The tour includes a visit to the famous Anse Lazio beach, before the 30-minute crossing to La Digue, during which you have a good chance of spotting dolphins. At La Digue island the 21st century blends smoothly with the tranquility of yesteryear. Transfer from the jetty is by ox-cart to L'Union Estate for a tour of the copra sheds, the giant land tortoises and the recently refurbished colonial plantation house.
