The Brando is set on the breathtakingly beautiful Polynesian island of Tetiaroa, an atoll made up of a dozen small islands surrounded by a sparkling azure lagoon, 30 miles northeast of Tahiti. Accessed only by private jet, the Brando is a luxurious but eco-responsible resort of just 35 villas, surrounded by white sand beaches and waters filled with turtles and manta rays.
Room Description
Accommodation at the Brando is in the form of one, two and three-bedroom villas, each designed to enhance the natural surroundings, and blend the indoors with the outdoors. Décor is neutral and restful, with open rafters, ceiling fans, earthy tones, and natural materials such as polished wood, stone and cotton. One bedroom villas have a king-sized bed, a walkthrough dressing area and adjoining bathroom featuring an outdoor tub set behind a wooden screen, and a deck with a private plunge pool. Two-bedroom villas have a large airy living room, and private dining area with seating for six, a kitchen and a two-tiered deck. The main bedroom features a dressing area, bathroom and outdoor bathtub, while the second bedroom is upstairs with a beautiful view over the lagoon. The palatial three-bedroom villas offer spacious accommodation for friends and families, with expanded deck areas and 22 sq m pools. This is the last word in bare-foot chic.
Activities
If you can tear yourself away from your private plunge pool, you will find all sorts of activities just beyond the deck – from cycling, bird watching and snorkelling, to diving, kayaking and paddle boarding. The undersea world here at Tetiaroa is filled with exotic fish, turtles, reef sharks and magnificent coral gardens. Or you can simply swim at Mermaid Bay and relax on the powdery white sand. A visit to the Library and Explorer Centre reveals books and lectures and demonstrations about the French Polynesian lifestyle, natural history and culture, while onsite research scientists are happy to talk about their research and the bird and wildlife on the island. There are organised excursions including a bird discovery tour, reef quest and turtle night (November to March), as well as the Tetiaroa Tour – a special tour of the atoll on a roofed boat with a naturalist guide. Then there is a whole programme of Art and Culture activities, including Polynesian dance, music ad handicraft les
Dining
There are two restaurants at the Brando, the Beachcomber Café, and Les Mutinés, both of which feature Polynesian –inspired cuisine, with East-West fusion and classic French dishes. The Beachcomber offers alfresco dining with fabulous sea views, while Les Mutinés is an elegant dining room with a world-class wine list. And of course you can dine in the privacy of your own villa , on your private deck or on the beach in front of the villa, whenever you like. For drinks, Te Manu Bar offers private tree-top seating areas that can be reached by walkways through the palm canopy, while Bob’s Bar is a relaxed and casual watering hole on the beach.
